One of our favourite styles of custom car is the rat look with modern/restored internals. This Parkwood has an original patina on the body, an original clean interior and a 454 big block engine with airbags all round. We love it!
Only 156 of these stunning luxury saloons were ever made, and very few survive. Restoration costs are huge, the clap-doors are very complex, so the asking price is realistic. We think these are blue chip future investments.
For sale in the USA is this unique Scaglietti bodied 1959 Corvette for $995,000 (£650,000).
Financed by Gary Laughin, a Texan oil man, in the late ’50’s. 3 cars were planned to be built but this was the only one completed. Scaglietti created this car whilst making the Ferrari 250 Tour-de-France, hence the similar looks.
The Corvette style grille is a nice touch as is the manual gearbox. Aesthetically the shape is not as pleasing as period Ferrari’s, so we can’t help thinking this is too pricey for what essentially is a dressed up ’59 Corvette.
